I have heard them on 498.9875  which is weak in signal from my location which makes me
assume that site is in town somewhere.. I expect if they head out of range of that site they will
appear on a neighbouring site as required..

There will be a multitude of frequencies. Each time they talk they will be on another frequency. It is all determined by the trunk controller.
