I can see this turning into a three-ring-circus.
The Christchurch earthquakes showed how unreliable the cellular system is.
Most cellsites went down within an hour of losing mains power, and when
generators were sent out to re-power them they ended up being stolen.
Recently the government wanted to use the cellular network as a national
reporting system for Civil Defence to alert people to emergency situations.
Same scenario - if we have a decent quake here the cellular infrastructure
won't cut it.
Now they want to use it as the primary means for emergency services
communications?
Tell me I'm missing something here.
