Some scanners have a "Close Call" feature that will record the frequency 
of a strong signal.
The Uniden UBC-126AT will record and display the frequency, modulation 
and the CTCSS / DCS  if any will appear in the display.
If you have or can get a loan of such an item, it might save a lot of 
time. Especially if the data transmissions are short.
  I have not used this mode, and my info is from the user manual.
