My reason for wanting one from the US is to be able to get one with Alpha Tagging. I love my UBCT8 and if I could name channels I wouldn't think about swapping it.
I can get a BCT15X from Universal Radio for NZ$250 plus some freight. The only base/mobile scanner on the Uniden NZ/Aus website is the 355 which is even more basic than the T8 and I think the RRP is $210

The other models you suggest are Analogue, with a lot going to digital, and with digital scanning having some more complexity in the set-up, this explains the interest in newer, digital-capable models.

 I’m looking at getting one of the scanners from Amazon however looking at the band plan at seems to miss out the 75 mhz which police nd fire use here in New Zealand can anyone confirm this for me please or is there a different model I can buy for New Zealand that has it enabled .  I’m stuck between the TRX one and the union 436HP really doing my head in lol
