Ever since Wgton. Area Police went digital on ESB (VHF) and 490mHZ (UHF) the
'old'Area 2 and Wellington 2 Analog 75/76mHz secondary channels became
linked to the Palmy. Nth/Manawatu. The reason given for this (official?) was
that 'out of district' Police vehicles from the Manawatu/Taranaki/Hawkes Bay
etc. with Prison Escorts etc. still had 'comms' with Wellington Police
Comms.  on the Manawatu channel if they got 'lost' finding Rimutaka/Arohata
Prisons, or safety issues etc. So, getting back to the re-transmission of
the Manawatu District on 151mHz, it is just duplicating something that is
already in place.
