I agree, I seem to recall funding was heavily reduced for ambo’s and Westpac just recently. Campbell should have been rallying for more support NOT

doing his usual biased b/s presentation of a great service.

In most cases fire call takers will just transfer you to Ambo anyway. And why put more pressure on the fire service to attend calls the majority are not equipped or trained for (with the exception of the stations that are equipped to co respond of course) The majority of fire fighters are not happy having to perform Ambo duties as it is.

Purple calls yes I can understand this, but Shifting the problem will not help. The government need to get in Behind Ambo and give them a bit more funding and support.
Sorry others may not agree but that's just my opinion.

Did anyone watch Campbell Live TV3 last night. St. John Ambo. not portrayed very well performance wise. Thank God we have probably the best Ambulance Service in the Southern Hemisphere (Wellington Free Ambulance) in the greater Wgton. area.

Best advice is call ‘111’ and ask for “Fire’ – they will turn out to most medical emergencies – no questions asked, and are trained to deal with many medical emergencies, plus a lot more physically fitter than most Ambos when it come to performing CPR for prolonged periods.
