[TheList] Mag. 7.4 earthquake, Canterbury region, New Zealand

I was at work here in AshVegas when this bloody thing struck.
Happened to be replacing and re-connecting a motor on a spud conveyor way the hell up in the air.
Ever been on a palm tree in a hurricane?, that's what it felt like.
Luckily I had at least 2 bolts into the flange when it struck.
Still getting the odd after-shock every now and then, there was a really good one here at about 0800.

Just as a note guys, can any of you give me some advice on heating my workshop here, I don't want electricity, LPG is far too expensive and has far too
much moisture content.
It's only about 4m x 8m with a sloped roof that slopes down to 2.2m high.
We had a bloody good frost here in AshVegas this morning and it is bloody freezing in here, I just need something to warm this place up in the colder months to 10C.
Can anyone help with advice?

Cheers,

Mike T.

Major damage and buildings collapses in CHCH,major
damage at pines beach.

roads have cracks in them, bridge approaches
damaged,

In Timaru it scared the shit out of
me.

Got out of bed and was difficult to walk to the
bedroom door frame.

Everything rattled, walls seem to be moving,
massive rocking.

still getting many aftershocks in
Timaru

worst I have ever felt in 58 years at 7.4 magnitude
in CHCH
