[TheList] Fire Service gone digital?

My understanding is the pilot is starting in Wellington soon followed by rollout early to mid next year then the rest of the country progressively. Auckland is likely to be years away due to the contract with TeamTalk for the current system.

Last I heard, not going to be encrypted anywhere.

Cheers

Well, it's a funny thing,
I opened the squelch up on my 9000 and I can get voice and Sel-call tones.
Maybe there is a problem with this reciever?
Anyone heard of this sort of fault before?
There is quite a bit of "swing" in the squelch on this scanner between closed and open.
It's going to be a PITA to have the squelch fully open to recieve signals.
Does anyone else here own one of these scanners that has had the same problem before?

Sorry to invoke the nasty "digital" turn-off thing, I really thought that that is what had happened.

Cheers,
Mike T.

Hi Mike,

Well, I am in Tekapo so hard to help! Know anyone with a digital scanner?

Are you hearing the UHF link at about 420Mhz?

Well,
I'm based in AshVegas here, and used to be able to get Comms from pretty much Kaikoura down to Oamaru and everything in between.
Now I'm not hearing anything at all.
I'm using a Uniden 9000XLT and a Yaesu VR-120 and these are both hooked up to my Sel-Call decoder, the last log I had was at mid-night last night (when I was at work).
Even with the squelch fully open on both of these radios, I'm not hearing anything.

Mike.

Hi Guys,
As of 1400 hours here, I can't recieve any Fire Service Comms (voice or Sel-Call tones).
The 75.7125 frequency has gone dead.
I upgraded my co-ax to LMR-400 last weekend and the signals were flying in, now I hear nothing.
You guys got the same thing?

Cheers,
Mike T.
