That's about right. Certain groups have been using encrypted Motorola
XTS3000 P25 radios for at least that long, and will continue to use Motorola
equipment to ensure full compatability with certain other agencies with whom
they may wish to operate closely from time to time.

From memory Police initially started trialling various P25 equipment in
about early 2005. Andy could probably narrow it down better than that,
it was suppost to have been commercial in confidence.
Icom, Kenwood, Tait, Motorola, Simoco were the big 5 I recall, but I
understand there were more than that.
For Tait to win the contract is a major coup.
