CTCSS is obviously a waste of time for stopping people getting onto
your repeaters. It does have its place for shared frequencies and
reducing interference from adjacent channels which might have a
stronger signal than the one you are receiving.<br>

the repeater output, so comms won't hear it, just nearby units.
That being�said our local channel now has a CTCSS tone on it so
even the nearby units shouldn't hear it either.�

Yes, people with those shitty Boafeng radios, which is why
allegedly you can't bring them in anymore, unless you have a
ham radio licence (which you're meant to have to possess one)
