<p>The BC75XLT USA market model has the big hole from 54MHz to
108MHz. No good if you want to listen to fire dispatch on 75MHz.</p>

Uniden BC75XLT do these work fine here in NZ? Looking at
getting one to replace my very old UBC57XLT for simple radio.<br>

Yes, the guy in the Waikato has lots of scanners for sale
but be careful <br>
- they are the US varieties and not the NZ ones. For example
his Uniden <br>
BCT8's might look like our UBCT8's but ours have continuous
coverage <br>
from 25MHz upwards, whereas the US ones have a big hole
between 54 to <br>
108MHz and 174 to 400MHz. Plenty of activity in those
'holes' in NZ but <br>
you're not allowed to listen in the US - VHF FM broadcast
either?<br>

The yanks still seem to think its a good to block the
cellular bands too <br>
- even though AMPS has been dead for 15? + years. IIRC the
Unidens miss <br>
one or two of the license-able 800mhz trunking channels as
well.<br>
