Hi Shane, Richard and Chris,

Shane

I think the DMR channel on Skytown is only an Auckland thing for
Trans Dev commuter rail service. Remember that Kiwi Rail provides
the signalling and communications for all users of their tracks.

Trans Dev in Auckland may have arranged with Kiwi rail to have
GPS on DMR for their network management.

Trans Metro in Wellington don't appear to have a DMR channel, but
are regularly heard on Kiwi Rail channels.

I checked SMART and the EN119 on Skytower and it is licensed for
both Narrow FM (10K0F3EJN) and DMR (7K60FXWDT).

Chris.

This site will give you a list of all the VHF Kiwi Rail channels.

Hi Shane,

I assume you meant DMR... that's interesting. We've done work for
third parties (In the Waikato) with kiwirail freqs and haven't
heard about them changing to digital. I see that freq isn't
registered for Digital. Still with DMR they can absolutely do GPS
over the RT, meaning the control room in Wellington (I think) can
see where everyone is, vs relying on the driver to say what marker
they're near.

I'll keep my eyes and ears out!

Hi all,

KiwiRail sparked my interest over the weekend.. I
found a channel belonging to them transmitting from
the Skytower with DRM.

The data was full of GPS coordinates and speeds, the two
radios IDs (last night) that were passing information
where stationary it appeared.
152.2250 was the channel in question...
Anyone with further information.. GPS coordinates appeared
to be down country at a quick glance..
Cheers.
Subject: [TheList] KiwiRail 'Channel' Map

<span

Does
anyone have a location 'channel' map of radio
channels for
KiwiRail.
(And perhaps even a Channel 13 = xxx.xxxmhz)

EG: I see just out of Huntly there is a sign
that says, channel 13 area.
So they must have 'zones' that are specific
frequency / channel number.

I was at Raurimu and National Park over the
weekend and looking for and
scanning all the KiwiRail frequencies was
quite painful and I missed
quite a bit of traffic but saw a few trains
(not around the spiral due
to not knowing they were coming).

Would love to get a map so I can listen :)
If this is confidential, totally understand
however.
