<DIV>Guys and girls,</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Deliberating with myself here...so time to offer to the group.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Mid last year I had the chance to secure a Whistler TRX-1 handheld
thinking I would cart it everywhere</DIV>
<DIV>and listen to all those channels that interested me from
yesteryear...</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>I configured for the Malls (for the most DRM 2 slot repeaters)
the usual analogue fire and ambos and my local airfield etc..</DIV>
<DIV>Even the HICKS site repeater I have close to me... BUT it never leaves my
desk to be honest.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>With the interest shown on our group to those wanting to get stuck into
this side of scanning...</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>NOPE it won't decode P25 encryption and knows to mute the noise however
as I found out recently there are trials (or</DIV>
<DIV>now permanent) with Fire Police working the UHF P25 repeaters in
Auckland and it was neat to have them pop out if the silence.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Anyway best price I could find at the time was 500 US dollars... I hunted
at the time too!</DIV>
<DIV>So the only thing I can't offer is the packaging.. As new scanner with
manuals with original antenna!</DIV>
<DIV>All upgrades done as of this week.. They have addressed lots of
issues with drivers etc so it programs perfectly</DIV>
<DIV>from my desk top...</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Any 5 volt USB device will charge it. It even charges from the USB port
of the computer providing the port can offer up</DIV>
<DIV>the current to trigger a charge. The US power pack didn't make it
home either...but it gets charged off the many Apple phone</DIV>
<DIV>chargers left lying around by the kids...</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>These new scanners are not for the faint hearted. There are days when I
wish I could just put a channel number into the keypad and</DIV>
<DIV>hit enter.. But object based scanning with Groups, Scanlists etc
have become the way moving forward once you move away from analogue.</DIV>
<DIV>Once again a buzz when you master it and the channels liven up. My
first trip to our local Westfield made me very smug to know I could</DIV>
<DIV>listen in again to their catering, cleaning and security channels..</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>The US and Canadians are real spoilt for choice where you key in a zip
code and the radio reference site loads all your local</DIV>
<DIV>channels you decide your listening pleasure and your off! Well until
their local site changes its control channel then they grizzle. </DIV>
<DIV>No one appears to want to learn about adding the extra channel from first
principles over there.. </DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Little bit more attention to detail is required here...</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>I will package safely and ship anywhere in the country as required.
PM me for pics or more information on programming etc.</DIV>
<DIV>Welcome to have copy of my local programming for reference.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>What offers have I to get someone started in this new era of
scanning... </DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Regards,</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
