Ah interesting, I cant say ive ever seen/heard of an ambo command
vehicle.<br>
I heard 5 or so years ago from a Sergent that some areas will not go
digital at all due to the cost (when they can use cellphones which
seems to be happening a lot now anyway). Im also sure everyone is
well aware that digital is very hit and miss and while it has some
good features, will never compare with analog for hilly areas etc.<div><div class="h5"><br>

The fire RTs have access to the police ESA even in fire exclusive
areas (IE for us, fire have Ham1 even though they only use the
waikato fire network which is linked to vegas, TGA and taupo
networks - Anyone outside of a 50ish Km radius to the city use
police (excluding Raglan, as they can't get in due to the divvy) <br>

To the best of my knowledge, police don't have access to the VHF
liason channel that fire and ambulance have access to, messages
are passed through the comms centres. Also I've never heard police
on the Ambulance repeaters. I don't think Ambulance will go
digital anytime soon, if they did then they would be able to tap
into the P25 police network, the problem being ambulance stations
and hospitals heavily rely on 5tone, and 5tone is only available
on conventional channels. <br>

Of interest in regards to your last email, ambulance have a
command vehicle somewhere, I think wellington or chch based. I had
a look on 111emergency but couldn't find images of it. I've never
heard of it in use so I don't think it's Auckland based. <br>

There is what appears to be VHF or even ESA in the middle of the roof,
right in front of the extendable mast for a total of 3? lower frequency
antennas. I have no idea how these vans are setup but id like to think
they had the capability to contact fire/ambo via their own channels. (I
realize fire have access to the police repeaters sometimes although IDK
if thats because comms links them or fire are just switching their radio
over to a police VHF repeater).
