<br><br>Mark,<br>While I applaud your efforts, I personally would not buy one of them "Home Patrol" units.<br>Sure, it might be OK for a person that wants to get into listening to the Cops and Robbers, that isn't really scanning though.<br><br>It just goes to show, how the media in general has painted scanner users, there was even a piece on TV One here last year about a <br>"scanner party" that had some young people (students) listening to the cops over some drinks, they never bothered to ask to REAL scanner users.<br>And the piece was made to give the general public the impression that we are nothing but a bunch of eavsdropping mal-contents, getting into<br>your cell-phone calls, your cordless phone calls and listening to when you leave your house via the garage door opener.<br>I'd hate to see real radio listening dumbed down to that level.<br>A certain degree of the people that you would be selling these radios to, are experienced radio users.<br><br>What I had in mind originally, was something like the UBC-996XT made for this side of town. <br>As in a fully functional radio that did P25, did trunking and had some means of programming like either an SD card or a USB interface.<br>True scanning is based upon being able to either automatically or manually scan through the spectrum of the scanner.<br>Any radio that misses the 75-79MHz band here is not going to sell that well, it will still be used until such time as the P25 comes on board.<br>I would buy a radio like this (probably even two of them) if they were made available to buy.<br>A Uniden on-line store would be the best thing for us people down here, purchase over the Net, give your details, get it sent, all done.<br><br>Mark,<br>I'm not having a go at you or Uniden, thanks a million for coming up and putting your spoke in, it is most appreciated.<br><br>Cheers,<br>Mike T.<br><br><br> </body>
