Waitaki river north is the same as your local channels 218.1hz. South of Waitaki river is 173.8. North Island has 4 other tones. One for each ambo region. The are exceptions to these however like events channels, transfer channels ect.

St John Ambulance, Canterbury run the Ambulance calls throughout the
South Island (Correct me if I'm wrong), in Christchurch and Surrounding
areas the CTCSS tone is 218.1. does anybody know of the other subtones
for the other areas, (Timaru, Dunedin, Kaikoura etc), they were on the
radio-Wiki pages but has since been omitted
