All 9 aircraft were using VHF Fire 4.
Unfortunately the aircraft fueling location was right beside the command
unit so noise was an issue. Tried to get it shifted but only other location
suitable was back at Taieri airfield

Cheers

Hi Folks,
How many of you guys own one of these scanners?
I've had mine for about 6 years, it has all of a sudden stopped
receiving anything at all.
A couple of years back, the squelch stopped working (as in wide open all
the time),
so I installed a discriminator tap to run PDW for Fire Paging and turned
the volume right down.
Now, the thing is as deaf as a post, I opened it up, couldn't find
anything obvious, put it on
a signal generator and a 'scope, as well as an audio signal tracer, it
all tests out fine, yet if I
trigger a VHF handheld next to it, with a simple aerial connected to it,
it doesn't want a bar of it.

Any thoughts?

That's a little like asking where is the needle in this haystack! Best
guess would be either the reference oscillator crystal is crook so the
PLL/VCO is unable to synthesis the correct first local oscillator or one
of the other local oscillators isn't working, but it could be anything
really. Unfortunately if I recall correctly the IF's and subsequently
LO's are slightly unusual frquencies. But it could be anything. My
UBC9000XLT is still going strong despite all my mods ;-)

Get an RF Tech to look at it.

:-)

Anyone know what a 5M is, or does anyone have an updated list with all the
5 and 6 codes?
The list on the wiki is incomplete.
