Hi Leith,

There are over 1.1million smart meters in NZ

Most of them are EDMI MK-7C or MK-7A or three phase MK-10D

Most currently have a Vodafone 2G modem EWM100 <https://infometric.se/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/EWM100-Factsheet.pdf>

The ones installed since 2018 have either a 3G or 4G modems.

There is the odd pocket of MESH in NZ, North Canterbury, Christchurch, Central Hakes Bay and a smaller number in Whangarei.

Believe it or not there are even some satellite ones using the Orbcomm platform. <https://www.orbcomm.com/>

The main brands are the EDMI, L&G and NZ built Arc Innovations.

Some of the various accessories can be seen here https://www.smsystems.co.in/edmi-EWM100-modem.html

They are normally programmed via the IR read head, or via the serial port where the modem plugs in (under the cover)

Various data is available on the web https://www.energyassets.co.uk/media/resources/pdf/BG_RMM_EDMI-MK7C-web.pdf

The basic EDMI functions can be found here https://www.edmi-meters.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Mk7C-Factsheet-English.pdf
