Nothing unencrypted on P25 even Tait's own stuff is encrypted,

Speaking of digital scanners is anyone using one in Christchurch/Canterbury area? Would be interested to know what extra can be picked up using one. May consider getting one, email me directly if you would like.

Hey

Just got confirmation from the Whistler group that the TRX one has an
Australian band plan that you can select in settings that will give you
coverage from 50 6MH said to around 80 5MHZ it will not cover the FM
frequencies for radio due to severe interference so it?s looking like a
really good scanner I just can?t make my mind up. Do I get to uni then
486HP or do I get the TRX one does anybody in this group I?m both these
units or either either that could give us a rundown on differences I just
don?t want to waste a lot of money on something only to find the other one
is better further down the track.
Cheers Tim

Hi,

Yes the TX1/TX2 will cover the 75MHz range if the radio is set to the Austrlian or UK bandplan, but the performance on that band is very poor as I have a TRX2. I think that they changed the firmware so it will cover the 75MHz range but the hardware is not designed for the band so you get alot the FM broascast interferance and the sensetivity is very poor.
The Uniden 436 is the way to go (use to have one also until last week) and still have the base version 536. This 436 radio has alot more functions than the TRX1 and works very well on 75MHz. The early 436's has a problem with noise generated from the battery compartment that effected the UHF band performance but Uniden have fixed this in the radios manufactured after about the middle of last year. You do need to have to pay extra for the DMR & NXDN option keys for the 436 where they come included with the TRX1.

If you have any more questions please just ask.
