You can change the band plan to “Australia or UK” in the settings menu on the TX1 which adds the 75MHz range. This option was added in the last firmware release for both the TX1 & TX2.

Hi Shane,

Which part of NZ do you operate? I'm in Auckland.

How old is the scanner? I too have considered this scanner. I am comfortable with programming more complex scanners etc.

Mark.

Guys and girls,

Deliberating with myself here...so time to offer to the group.

Mid last year I had the chance to secure a Whistler TRX-1 handheld thinking I would cart it everywhere
and listen to all those channels that interested me from yesteryear...

I configured for the Malls (for the most DRM 2 slot repeaters) the usual analogue fire and ambos and my local airfield etc..
Even the HICKS site repeater I have close to me... BUT it never leaves my desk to be honest.

With the interest shown on our group to those wanting to get stuck into this side of scanning...

NOPE it won't decode P25 encryption and knows to mute the noise however as I found out recently there are trials (or
now permanent) with Fire Police working the UHF P25 repeaters in Auckland and it was neat to have them pop out if the silence.

Anyway best price I could find at the time was 500 US dollars... I hunted at the time too!
So the only thing I can't offer is the packaging.. As new scanner with manuals with original antenna!
All upgrades done as of this week.. They have addressed lots of issues with drivers etc so it programs perfectly
from my desk top...

Any 5 volt USB device will charge it. It even charges from the USB port of the computer providing the port can offer up
the current to trigger a charge. The US power pack didn't make it home either...but it gets charged off the many Apple phone
chargers left lying around by the kids...

These new scanners are not for the faint hearted. There are days when I wish I could just put a channel number into the keypad and
hit enter.. But object based scanning with Groups, Scanlists etc have become the way moving forward once you move away from analogue.
Once again a buzz when you master it and the channels liven up. My first trip to our local Westfield made me very smug to know I could
listen in again to their catering, cleaning and security channels..

The US and Canadians are real spoilt for choice where you key in a zip code and the radio reference site loads all your local
channels you decide your listening pleasure and your off! Well until their local site changes its control channel then they grizzle.
No one appears to want to learn about adding the extra channel from first principles over there..

Little bit more attention to detail is required here...

I will package safely and ship anywhere in the country as required. PM me for pics or more information on programming etc.
Welcome to have copy of my local programming for reference.

What offers have I to get someone started in this new era of scanning...

Regards,

Shane Vickers.
