You may find it is not incorrect mode settings (NFM for both VHF and UHF
75/488mHz) but due the 'level settings'  at the Rptr. Sites whilst the
migration from 'analog' to 'digital' is taking place in the 138-143mHz ESB'.
This has been quite noticeable in Wgton. area over the last few months. Most
Fire Appliances still have a 75mHz R/T as well as a ESB new digital radio.
They will get it sorted out eventually, but don't hold your breath!
