Hi Sam,

You need to match your FM-W / FM-N setting to the transmission.

If you listen to a narrow band transmission with your radio set to FM-W
then it will sound quiet.  Also if you listen to a wide band transmission
with your radio set to FM-N it will sound loud/distorted.
