[TheList] Wifi Extender and Stuff

I am looking for a solution regarding our home wifi, I need to extend it to cover another building and office 30 metres from the house and thought someone on the lsit had done something similar? ( building is mainly blocks and tin roof, our boarding kennel and cattery)

I have a Dick Smith extender but its not an outside one as I thought it somehow worked over the electrical circuit of the buildings, its going back today.
 Jaycar had an antenna type rated to to a 1000metres but 
it had to be plugged into a usb port then attached to outside wall, only just got the place looking less like a satalitte array!
I had a thought that I could put a router in the other building office on the same broadband that the wifi is attached to ???

Another solution I am exploring ( I must have too much time on my hands) is using  UHF radios in the kennels, we have 2 sets of earmuffs that plug into small uhf radios with boom mic, however the boom mic picks up all surrounding noise , like dogs barking so has anyone had sucess with a throat mic arrangement??
