Personally I'd use 50 ohm, unless for some reason you reason your scanner requires 75 ohm.
Reason I say that is that the cable would be harder to terminate to the connectors, which I assume are BNC.
I take that you're looking to use something like RG-59? as opposed to RG-58 (50 ohm).
Most of the RG-59 I've come across in the past has been of quite low shielding quality and this alone can 
introduce interference in itself.
