The 'On Line Scanner' post brings back memories. I can remember well the
North Is./South Is. HF link on 5289/7628kHz which re-transmitted all NZFS
VHF communications in both directions (North Is./South Is.) which was set up
for the benefit of TV3 News (being a newbie and not part of a Govt. owned
News Service) they did not get News Tips from Police/Ambo/Fire as the other
News providers did. The system was set up by the 2 main Ham Radio Dealers
(ComCentre & Mainland Radio) along with the 'dare-devil cameraman' Geof
Mackley.
