Out of the box it comes in VK mode and has to be changed to ZL mode by
holding a button while powering on.

Memory scanning is fast. Sensitivity is not too bad. Selectivity suffers a
bit with strong signals. Squelch is fast.

It has all of the marine and PRS channels (40) pre-programmed which is nice.

Not too hard to drive. It has all the common NZ emergency service channels
pre-programmed.

FM broadcast reception is good.

Runs on 3 x AA batteries - battery life is OK. An external charger is
required.

Audio is loud and clear through internal speaker and standard stereo
headphones work properly.

Biggest problem is that 'band' scanning is an undocumented feature! (It can
be done - no thanks to Uniden support L)

Scanning the Aircraft band is done in 12.5 kHz steps which makes it slower
than it needs to be but load up a few memories and its good.

It has a 'Misc' band which you can load with a mixture of frequencies from
any band which some scanners don't allow.

Over all its not bad for the price.

Roo.
