then again the lack of verbals, sitreps etc may have something to do with the NZPFU industrial action

Subject: [TheList] Fire Changes

Stranger than that, no new tones, all old tones seem to be
going across the channel normally. All voice dispatches come
across normally. No Sit Reps from appliances other than
certain volunteer stations, no 2nd alarm transmissions, no
K99, K88 or arrival messages of any type via voice either.
No stop messages. Voice traffic has probaby been deducted by
say two thirds. For example you will hear Wgtn 217, 211,
Newtown 221, House Fire , then the address. Following that
you will not hear anything over the air for the rest of the
job. You sometimes hear further messges passed to appliances
en route but once they locate you wont hear anything more
99% of the time. Radio techs have been on the channel a fair
bit recently too.
Likewise i recently heard Fire Comm advise an appliance
responding from a neighbouring area, to advise you Otaki 411
has submitted a K99.
Seems this changes affects Masterton, Wellington, Hutt,
Kapiti, Otaki. Doesn't seem to effect some smaller stations.
From a half technical scanner listerner of 10 years sounds
like Data Terminals testing SMS messaging or digital radio
trials.
