Hi Chris,

Yes that is normal

02MAR11 =Date

NZWNNZAA = Route – NZWN (Wellington) to NZAA (Auckland)

Most of the messages consisting of strings of characters are generated by the aircraft computers and relate to aircraft technical data – Pressures, temperatures etc. which are downloaded for the maintenance engineers.

Your second message is a weather report uplinked fro a ground station:

Translated it means:

RWY: 18L - Runway in use 18 Left
SFC COND: DRY – Surface Conditions Dry
WIND: 140/05 – Surface Wind 140 degrees at 5 knots
VIS: 30KM – Visibility 30 km
CLD: FEW012 – Cloud – few at 1200 feet
T: 20 - Temperature 20 degrees
DP: 15 - Dew point 15 degrees
QNH: 1020 - Air pressure 1020 millibars/hectopascals
2000FT: FVRB05 - Wind at 2000 feet, variable direction at 5 knots

You will get a range of message types – some are automated and some are to/from the crew.

For example:

VACARS mode: W Aircraft reg: .ZK-NGP

Message label: 87 Block id: 6 Msg. no: M89A Flight id: NZ0560

Message content:-

3A01 OPSCTL 0560/03 NZCH/NZAA .ZK-NGP

NZAA

HI. GATE 31 0948Z.

NO REQ

CHEERS

Andy

Hello again.. finally have the acarsd software up and running again.

I get messages like the following:

#1DBCRZ1024185222802MAR11NZWNNZAAM278M523370077424737308817 NZ
08540896647102603093710431006F1200002390
08530898645103703064110431005F120000742

are these normal type messages?
but I also get messages like the following:

RWY: 18L
SFC COND: DRY
WIND: 140/05
VIS: 30KM
CLD: FEW012
T: 20
DP: 15
QNH: 1020
2000FT: FVRB05

PAGE 01 02MAR11
END BRIEFING

so I can assume the following:

The software is decoding the messages correctly.
The top message is not an error, but that is actually a messages..
and if it is a message, how does one decode it?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi Chris.

I’m not an expert but do copy ACARS from time to time.
