It's all to do with antenna length.
The bands are worked out by, speed of light divided by frequency.
300
_____ = 6m full wave antenna.
50Mhz
300 / 430Mhz = .69m

Why is it example "6 Meter band" or 70 centimeter band?
not necessarily those bands .. but yeah --
Always puzzled me..
