Exactly Mike,
I'm not saying people shouldn't have these things, it's just that a few that do, need to use their brains before they go making the rest of us that own this sort of gear look like idiots.
And as Ray mentioned, the night that I heard it, wasn't the only time that this interference occured.
As for that guy that posted on YouTube, his running of a transmitter on 3kW, I have absolutely NO sympathy at all, for him losing his radio equipment.
Listen, whenever someone has a TVI problem, who gets accused of being the source first?
Usually it's the guy next door or down the road with "the big aerial".
Regardless of the fact that TV's are made so cheaply these days and overload easily with stray signals.
This guy isn't really helping our cause though, when the general public read an article like that one, they equate the word "amateur" with second-rate or not good enough to be a professional.
Sorry, I hope I haven't offended anyone here, I just wanted to put it to you floks that this sort of bad publicity, hurts all of us that work with radio gear.
Cheers,
Mike T.

Hi Mike
In answer to your question

All these will work on the Police frequencies, and most other
UHF gear if you know what your doing with it :)
It's just a matter what you use it for, It's not illegal to have gear
police/Fire TX capable, but to press the PTT, outside an emergency is an
offence.

Hi Guys,
For about the last 5 or so minutes, there has been some
clown playing piano music over 75.350MHz.
It interrupted the turn-out of
Ashburton 621 and 627 to a house fire.
What I'd like to know is where did an
idiot like this get the gear to transmit on this frequency?
Causing this sort
of interference to a Life Safety channel, is probably about one of the worst
radio offences one can commit, under the Radio Communications Act 1989.
Sure
we used to have the odd person back in the late 80's/early 90's used to block
the odd CB channel with music or some other crap, but that is totally different,
police or fire staff depend on communications for their own safety and the
safety of the public.
This is just rediculous.
Regards,
Mike
