Timaru and Ashburton have been on the same link since I first started scanning all them years ago.

Message body
CHCH rural went digital at midnight
sun/mon
I heard the message to change over at
2400
Fire are still using the
frequencies
Timaru and Ashburton regions are now
joined up together.
I have been told fire are taking over
the old relinquished frequencies.
PS what frequency does the digital
system use
I would like to listen to the
sounds.

Listening
Hi all,
Was in the smoke last week and
heard silence on the 'rural' frequencies. Looks as if all the analogue now is
just the old 'Ch1' frequencies.
My new digital scanner gets the
new frequencies for the boys in blue but they sound like aliens!!
Happy days....

I understand
that comms monitor the old analogue channels, when they know there are
"outside" units in the area, who don't have digital radios installed yet.
This would explain why sometimes you're hearing comms only, and nothing else
at other times.

All this proves is that the police techs are

I have some glitches that i would never
tell in this group for the above.

ChCh Listening
Hi again all,
Well, this morning
after about 08:00 the VHF went quiet. Looks like maybe the SC link is
only overnight.......
The mystery continues.....

Strangely enough there is one sided traffic on
the"old"channels today (Sat 6th) in ChCh again.
Maybe the digital
delay is too long and causing problems so they are monitoring comms
with the old radios in the mobiles (only because I peered in a car
very recently to hear the old radio going as well as the new one with
a noteable delay on the new radio)or maybe the despatcher just does
not realise she TXing accross both systems....
